Along These Lines

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

Along These Lines is a submission-based reading series within the fold of Slow Theatre (www.slowtheatre.com) in Chico, California. Its mission is to showcase original writing by people in or from this region (the counties of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Plumas, Sutter, Tehama, and Yuba). We invite anyone with something to say to submit work by September 19, 2016. For this reading there are no restrictions except one: whatever you send us must not exceed eight minutes of reading time, or around 1600 words. Shorter is better. You may include up to five poems in a single submission.

All work selected for the reading will also be published in a chapbook given free of charge to each author and subsequently available in a free downloadable PDF format from the Slow Theatre website.  All submissions will be read completely blind, and we won’t know what we want to put together for each reading until we see what we get. Important: please do not put your name anywhere in your submission—include your contact info in a cover letter instead--and please submit your work via Submittable (www.submittable.com). We will not accept submissions via email or snail mail.

Please note that there is a small fee to submit--$2.00--that covers Submittable's charges to process your submission.

Along These Lines will host a reading of the selected work at a Chico venue in the fall of 2016. If you are unable to attend, an actor will read your work for you.

Send us whatever you like—an original poem or short story or essay or something that defies categorization. We look forward to reading your work. And we look forward to hearing YOU read your work!
